Speeding van accidently kills 3 morning walkers, driver citical

A tragic road accident early Saturday morning claimed the lives of three individuals out for a morning walk on National Highway 31 near Kabua Road Kali Mandir, under the Harishchandrapur police station in Malda district. The victims, identified as Dilip Saha, Fenklal Ram, and Suresh Khaitan, were residents of Tulsighata village in Harishchandrapur.

The incident occurred when a speeding pickup van struck a group of five walkers, instantly killing three. The van subsequently overturned due to the impact, leaving the driver severely injured. Local sources reported that the group was engaged in their routine morning exercise when the van, allegedly moving at a high speed, lost control and veered into their path. The three victims were fatally struck, while the remaining two walkers narrowly escaped.

Eyewitnesses on the scene, including Shankarapad Karma, recounted the shock and devastation caused by the incident, describing the sound of the crash and the immediate aftermath. Abhijit Gupta, a local resident, expressed deep concern over the rising incidents of reckless driving in the area and the dangers posed to pedestrians.

Following the accident, police and rescue personnel from Harishchandrapur quickly arrived at the scene. The injured driver was first taken to Harishchandrapur Rural Hospital for immediate care and later transferred to Chanchal Super Specialty Hospital due to the critical nature of his injuries.
